CHKDSK Utility

Hi Friends....

In most cases it is found that hard disk is often full by videos or graphics or software etc. In home we do know how the disk works... we have purchased it because computer needs a hard disk and we need a space. 

Disk's working capacity is extremely good than any other hardware of computer but it needs care.

If your computer is suffered from disk crashes and you want to save the disk then there is an inbuilt utility in Windows XP that can make you happy keeping apart from disk errors.

The Utility is Check Disk Utility.

GUI Window

 Windows XP has the GUI window to perform the task.

First end all works upon you are working such as MS word, excel etc.

and then

To use it first open My Computer

Right Click by mouse at the drive which you want to check... and open it's Properties

Then Click at "Tool" of the Properties window 

Click at "Check Now" Button

This will prompt this window-

Check the Checkboxes-

1. Automatically Fix File System errors- if you want to do this.

2. Scan for and attempt recovery of Bad Sectors- Windows will auto recover the disk errors.

After selecting options Click "Start" button and wait until the 6 phases of the disk complete.

Note:- You may be prompted to run the task at system restart then you should restart your computer.
